Spanish at Lamoille Valley Farm and Forest School
We are so fortunate to have Meagan DeClerck guiding our Spanish language program. A passionate language educator and mother of four trilingual children, Meagan brings a playful, energetic presence to her teaching while weaving in rich cultural and linguistic knowledge. Her classes are joyful, engaging, and full of movement, music, storytelling, and connection.
Spanish is offered twice weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is open to students of all ages in our program. Rooted in curiosity and appreciation, the curriculum encourages children to explore not just language, but also the cultures, histories, and communities connected to it. Themes like nature, immigration, and community care are woven into lessons, sparking empathy and expanding worldviews.
Whether learning through games in the forest, songs around the fire, or conversations sparked by real-world issues, students are encouraged to build bridges across difference and find joy in connection. Our Spanish program reflects the spirit of our school—experiential, heart-centered, and grounded in relationship.

Chess club
While chess is a fantastic focal point, incorporating other strategy-based games helps engage students of all ages in problem-solving. With that in mind, this year’s program will feature a variety of games that complement the club’s core principles:
Club Principles
1. Foundations: We’ll begin by covering the essentials—understanding the objective of the game, identifying pieces, and learning their placement and movement on the board.
2. Skill Development: As students gain confidence, we’ll explore advanced strategies and tactics to improve their gameplay.
3. Weekly Challenges: Each week, students will be presented with a fun chess puzzle, challenging them to solve it within a set number of moves.
4. Benefits: Beyond learning to play chess, our primary goals are to strengthen concentration, critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, while promoting good sportsmanship.
5. Positive Environment: We are dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, where values such as sportsmanship, fairness, and a love of learning are celebrated.
Program Donation
To help support the program’s resources and activities, we’ve divided the 18-week run (taking into account breaks and school events) into two 9-week sessions. The cost is $100 per child per session, with a reduced rate of $50 for each additional sibling. -
Stowe Ski and Ride Program
Each winter, our community is fortunate to participate in the local Stowe Ski and Ride Program—a beloved seasonal offering that brings together students from schools across the region for a unique blend of outdoor adventure and academic enrichment. For just $68, children gain access to a full season of skiing or snowboarding, making mountain sports accessible to all.
Our school makes the most of this incredible opportunity by hosting academic sessions right at the mountain in the mornings. Students engage in meaningful learning while nestled in the heart of Vermont’s winter wonderland. By midday, books are traded for boots, and the mountain becomes our classroom. The slopes offer not just physical activity and fresh air, but also lessons in resilience, focus, and joy.
This program wouldn't be possible without the heart and dedication of our parent chaperones, whose support ensures safety, encouragement, and community spirit on the hill. Their presence makes this program a true team effort—one that we believe enriches our students’ lives in profound and lasting ways.
We’re proud to be part of a local tradition that celebrates learning, movement, and togetherness in such a magical setting.on goes here
